Quotes By Jesus – It Is Written

Quotes by Jesus – Not as the Rabbis

Jesus was known to deliver words that really did make a difference. People referred to him as the man who did not teach as their Rabbis in the synagogues, but who did teach with authority and power. Even the enemies of Jesus could see that there was something special with Jesus and his words.

Well, then – what was the difference? Of course everything was different since Jesus came to give grace and show love to the people, something that times teachers and leaders did not bother that much about. They always emphasised the sins and the mistakes and was judging people and “put burdens on their shoulders”, as Jesus himself expressed it. But all the Jesus Christ Quotes we find in the Bible shows to us that even if Jesus came to show the love and grace from God towards the people, He never abounded the word of God. (E.g. Old Testament). Jesus respected the Scripture more than anyone else – in fact He said that he came to fulfil the Law and the Scripture – not to destroy it:

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
(Mat 5:17 KJV)

Jesus is the word!

Many times during Jesus ministry He was referring to the Scripture in a very powerful way saying: It is written! Those Jesus Christ Quotes shows us that he then delivered the word of God and explained to everyone that the word that was written could never be changed. It still has power and it is still has the authority. When Jesus said – it is written – He knew that He himself was one with that word, and he was never going to compromise that word. Not ever, no matter what.

John says that Jesus IS the word. Listen to this:

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. (Joh 1:14 KJV)

This bible verse is a description of Jesus being that word of God, coming in the flesh! Also read:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
(Joh 1:1 KJV)

No one can separate Jesus and his word! It is impossible, and that is why Jesus never compromised the word. He came to fulfil it and He referred to the word of God all the time he was preaching and teaching.

Quotes by Jesus: It is written!

The first time we find in the Word of god Jesus expressing those words – “It is written”, is in the real beginning of Jesus ministry. He was baptized by John the Baptist and then the Holy Spirit led Him out in the wilderness to be tempted of the evil one.

Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungered. And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him. Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee;
(Mat 4:1-12 Jesus Christ Quotes taken from KJV)

Also when Jesus was talking about John the Baptist he said: It is written…

For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
(Mat 11:10 KJV)

When Jesus came to the temple and saw the business that the people made there instead of having the temple as a house of prayer, Jesus once again used those words – it is written – to show that Gods will was not changed at all. God wanted the house that was dedicated to him, be respected as a house of prayer.

And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.
(Mat 21:12-13 Jesus Christ Quotes taken from KJV)

And he answered and told them, Elias verily cometh first, and restoreth all things; and how it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things, and be set at nought. But I say unto you, That Elias is indeed come, and they have done unto him whatsoever they listed, as it is written of him.
(Mar 9:12-13 KJV)

Everything about the death of Jesus is written about in the Old testament. So is the betrayer – and Jesus revealed that at the last supper.

And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me. The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born.
(Mat 26:23-24 Jesus Christ Quotes taken from KJV)

Jesus knew what would happen to his followers when he died. How could he know? Because it was written in the scripture!

Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.
(Mat 26:31 KJV)

Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands?

He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
(Mar 7:5-7 KJV)
